Durham Radio installs Mikey Defibrillators in event cruisers
Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade member Durham Radio Inc. which features local radio stations KX96, CKDO 107.7 and 94.9 The Rock, have taken a big step toward keeping the public safe at community locations where their Events Cruisers appear.
Hugh Heron, president of Heathwood Homes and Mikey Network Chairman, was on hand at the radio station's Oshawa headquarters to help promote the installation of MIKEY Defibrillators in the event cruisers, and applauded the event staff, for taking the initiative to eb trained in using the equipment. Durham Radio President Doug Kirk said "We thought the benefits of having MIKEYs on board our station events vehicles would be a positive contribution to the communities served by our stations."
Executive Director of the Mikey Network, Morty Henkle says this program began in 2002. Since the program began, Henkle says close to 1.5 million dollars has been raised, and more than 700 defibrilators installed in the GTA.
