Pickering Village BIA has exciting news
Jeremy De Mel, chair of the Pickering Village BIA, emceed a special press event in Pickering Village Aug. 26 when the Town of Ajax held an official ceremony to celebrate three local community and economic development projects in the Town of Ajax.
The Honourable Steven Fletcher, Minister of Democratic Reform, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State for FedDev Ontario; and Steve Parish, Mayor of the Town of Ajax, celebrated these projects at the Old Kingston Road construction site in Pickering Village. Old Kingston Road will receive a facelift as one of the projects that is breaking ground.
“Our government is creating jobs and stimulating the economy of southern Ontario,” said Minister Fletcher. “These projects will help residents of Ajax enjoy safer roads for years to come and promote economic development in the community.”
The Government of Canada has committed more than $3 million to the projects through the Community Adjustment Fund in southern Ontario. For additional details on these projects, please refer to the backgrounder.
"Thanks to the Community Adjustment Fund, the Town has been able to accelerate key economic development projects," said Mayor Parish. "The reconstruction of Old Kingston Road will act as a catalyst to the overall revitalization of Pickering Village. Changes to the main road will contribute to the viability and economic development of the area, making it an ideal location for an arts and culture hub, retail destination, and tourist hot spot."
