Committees and Their Tasks

The Board has several committees that rely on volunteers from within our membership. Additional committees are struck as required.

Business Excellence & Business Person of the Year Awards

  • Mandate: to assist in securing judges and encouraging nominations for awards followed by ensuring a tasteful execution of the function itself.
  • Meets monthly from March - September

AGM & Christmas Lunch

  • Mandate: to plan the luncheon portion and ensure that the final gathering of the year is a fun event that kicks off the Christmas season.
  • Meets monthly from September – November

Eco-Business Advisory Committee

Meets the 4th Wednesday of each month. Mandate: Provide tools, information, guidance and recognition to assist APBOT members to establish environmentally responsible practices within their businesses and at home, and to promote a culture of conservation and sustainability within the Ajax and Pickering Business Community.

Membership Committee

  • Mandate: to create and maintain programs and initiatives that will foster increased membership and ensure retention.
  • Meets the first Monday of each month.

Golf Committee

  • Mandate: to assist tournament chair in securing golfers, prizes and sponsors for this annual event and ensure the day runs smoothly.
  • Meets monthly from February – June.

Government Relations

  • Mandate: to keep abreast of local issues and ensure that appropriate governments/agencies are aware of the needs and concerns of our members. Click here to read the full mandate.
  • Meets 1st Friday of the month from 7:15 – 9:00 a.m.
  • Priority issues - Based on recent surveys conducted with our membership, this committee is guided by priority issues within the Ajax and Pickering business communities. Also see our Priority section. >
