The Annual General Meeting and Christmas Lunch is the last hurrah of the year where we reflect on the past year and get a sense of what the coming year will bring. Held once again this year at the Ajax Convention Centre.
The Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade will be hosting over 40 events in 2014!
These events attract a wide range of businesses - from the small sole proprietor to the leading businesses of our community. Whether you are interested in networking, education/training, golfing with your peers on a beautiful summer's day, or enjoying a meal while hearing from your local business leaders/politicians, we have something for everyone!

On November 21st, Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade members and future members alike assembled at the OPG Information Centre in Pickering for our Membership…make IT work for YOU event to hear about how creating new opportunities is the key to professional and personal success.
The resplendent La Roya Banquet Hall in Ajax was the venue for this month’s Networking After 5 event.
Attendees enjoyed a combination of formal and informal networking. For the formal portion, we employed our popular Networking Shuffle format whereby networkers were broken into small groups with each person getting the opportunity to briefly introduce themselves and their business before being “shuffled” into new configurations. To facilitate conversation, starter topics were introduced by the facilitators. Individuals were introduced to two separate groups of 6-8 people. Some informal networking time was provided before and after the networking shuffle to allow for some one-on-one conversation. A fine array of complimentary hors d'oeuvres was served and attendees were impressed by the delicious food and unique atmosphere.
Iain Laidlaw of Addmore Office Furniture (2009) Ltd. facilitated a very informative Lunch & Learn on the subject of Ergonomics in the Office. Since many of us spend so many hours behind a desk, it is important that we pay attention to the impact our work habits can have on our long-term health. The Lunch and Learn was held at the Pickering Library and in addition to donating his time, Mr. Laidlaw also sponsored the lunch.
During the session, Iain detailed some new technologies that are revolutionizing the way many are doing their work.
