2010 APBOT Business Excellence
Award nominees announced
AJAX/PICKERING, ON (August 23, 2010)
– The Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade Business Excellence Awards
nomination process is complete and an impressive group of companies and
business leaders are being considered for the 2010 event.
The nominees are all selected for their level of excellence in all areas
of their business operations by business peers among the Board’s
membership, although nominees do not have to be members of the Board of
Trade. This year’s ceremony takes place at Deer Creek Golf & Banquet
Facility on Thursday,
Oct. 14.
Tim Hudak visits Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade
Provincial party leader, Tim Hudak, leader of the Conservative Party of
Ontario, visited the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade to talk to business
leaders about local issues recently. He talked to a small group gathered
at the Board's offices in Pickering Village and several topics came up,
from insurance to health care.

Ignatieff, the Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, stopped in Ajax
Thursday for an Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade luncheon and Q&A with
local business leaders and had much to say on issues such as the airport
lands, the nuclear industry and a number of issues raised from a packed
audience on hand to hear the Leader of the Official Opposition.

Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade excited 407 plans underway, but must reach 35/115
AJAX/PICKERING, ON (June 15, 2010) – The Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade responded with excitement to the recent news that the Province of Ontario has taken an important step in the process to extend Hwy. 407 through Durham Region, but urges the Province to include the entire extension rather than only reaching Oshawa at this time.

wins Chair's Award
AJAX-PICKERING: Joan Wideman, an active member of the
Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade, has been recognized by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) for her long term volunteer commitment in the Ajax-Pickering community, and in particular, the Board of Trade, while the Board's Eco-Business program won a Chair’s award for innovation.
