Regional Chair's Remarks Focus on Seaton
A strong contingent of Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade members was in attendance at the Lake House Event Centre in Pickering last week to hear Regional Chair Roger Anderson make his annual address to the organization. The event was presented by Bell and sponsored by EMC and the Ajax-Pickering News Advertiser and a collection for $550 was taken up for the Optimist Club of Ajax.
In his remarks, Mr. Anderson focused on the unintended consequences of a general election for the position of Regional Chair as well as the Central Pickering Development Plan. Mr. Anderson informed the crowd that a recent proposed amendment by the Province could derail current plans to develop and service business and employment lands in Seaton prior to going forward with residential development.
The Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade submitted a letter to The Hon. Kathleen Wynne, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing on Monday, April 2nd reiterating our long standing position that the sustainable development of the employment lands in Seaton must take priority over residential builds.
