Board of Trade Welcomes 2012 Governing Council
Gary Strange Named President
AJAX/PICKERING, January 27, 2012 – The Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade (APBOT) inducted its 2012 governing Council Thursday night, naming Gary Strange, of First Durham Insurance and Financial as 2012 President.
Mr. Strange was sworn in along with members of the Board's 2012 Council, who took the oath of office administered by Durham Regional Chair Roger Anderson. The ceremonies were once again held at Deer Creek Golf Clubs in Ajax.
The Honourable Kathleen Wynne, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and Minister of Aboriginal Affairs was the guest speaker for the event.

Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade responds to federal budget
Welcomes steps to help business in uncertain economic times
AJAX/PICKERING, ON (June 7, 2011) –The Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade welcomed the federal government’s budget which seeks to achieve its economic recovery objectives, to hasten the return to balanced budgets and to promote a more competitive economy with increased employment.
The Board of Trade supports the Government’s plan to reduce Canada’s federal deficit without resorting to raising taxes and applauds the aggressive four year timetable set out in the budget.
“The government is showing leadership with prudent cost containment and we applaud their commitment to look for savings,” said Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade President Donna McFarlane. “We look forward to a return to balanced budgets in the near future.”

Board of Trade annual Mayors Address attracts large crowd
The Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade welcomed more than 150 attendees to the Ajax Convention Centre as the mayors of Ajax and Pickering returned for the annual Mayors' Address on March 2, 2011. Ajax Mayor Steve Parish and Pickering Mayor Dave Ryan outlined the many ways their municipalities are thriving today and how they are building on current success in order to position their communities for future success.
