Board of Trade
annual survey identifies priorities
Members’ feedback to help guide Board goals and activities in 2010
AJAX/PICKERING, January 2010 – The Ajax-Pickering Board of
Trade has taken the pulse of its membership through a recent survey and has
identified a broad range of issues important to local businesses that will help
guide the Board’s Government Relations Committee in setting priorities for 2010.
“The survey was a unique project this time around,
in that it provided topics clearly recognized as broad business issues, but
allowed our members the freedom to provide feedback with specific examples of
their concerns and priorities,” said Joan Wideman, chair of the Board’s
Government Relations Committee. “This survey enables us to adequately understand
the needs of our members and lobby on behalf of their businesses, while giving
the Committee guidance in where to focus its efforts throughout the year.”
The issues provided in the survey for feedback were
crime, economic development, education, emergency services, energy,
environment, government funding, health care, international trade, taxation and
transportation. Each of these categories elicited great response and
provided specific examples of concerns that members would like the Board to
monitor and even advocate for on their behalf.
The Board of Trade has made a general breakdown of
the results available to its membership and the public by posting a ‘Survey
Fact Sheet’ at its website, apboardoftrade.com. This fact sheet has also been
shared with the Region of Durham, Town of
Ajax
and City of
Pickering.
The annual survey is a valued tool to the Board of
Trade in order to stay in touch with the needs and interests of its members.
