Ajax is a town in Southern Ontario, Canada. It is a part of the Greater Toronto Area and the Regional Municipality of Durham. The town was named after the HMS Ajax - a Royal Navy vessel that served in the Second World War. It is situated roughly 25 kilometres to the east of the City of Toronto on the shores of Lake Ontario and is bordered by the City of Pickering to the west and north.
Pickering is a city in Southern Ontario, Canada that is just east of Toronto in Durham Region. It is part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Since the second half of the 20th Century, Pickering has experienced rapid growth. 2011 is the City of Pickering's bicentennial year.
